This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, store, process, and protect your information when you use our website and application.

1. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use WiseCV, we collect the following types of information:

Anonymous Users

• Name and Headline
• Email Address and Phone Number
• Resume Content (career experience, education history)
• Skills, Languages, Projects, Certifications, and References
• Profile Photo (if uploaded)

Registered Users

When you sign in or create an account to save your progress:

• Your resume content is securely stored in our database (Supabase) so you can access it across multiple devices.
• We store basic account details (authentication credentials and timestamps).

2. How Your Data is Stored

We utilize a secure local-first architecture and secure cloud backups:

• LocalStorage: Stored directly inside your local sandbox. It remains active unless you manually clear your browser cache.
• Cloud Database (Supabase): Secured using Row Level Security (RLS). Only authenticated users can read, edit, or delete their own data.

3. AI Processing (Groq)

If you choose to use AI-powered writing assistance, the selected resume text is sent directly to Groq's API for processing. If you provide your own Groq API key, that key is stored only in your browser and is never transmitted to or stored on WiseCV servers.

4. Cloud Synchronization

For registered users, data is synced in real-time between your local browser and our Supabase backend. Sync endpoints are secured via HTTPS, and database access is restricted using secure environment variables.

5. Cookies & Analytics

We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. We may use standard browser storage to remember your system theme preference (light/dark mode) and UI settings.

6. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. While no online service can guarantee absolute security, we work to safeguard your data against unauthorized access.

7. Your Rights

You have full ownership of your data. You can:

• Clear all data instantly from your browser settings.
• Export your entire resume data to a local JSON backup file.
• Delete your registered cloud account and all associated resume database records directly from your account profile settings.

8. Data Retention

• Anonymous users: Resume data remains in your browser until you clear it or remove your browser data.
• Registered users: Resume data remains in your account until you delete it or request account deletion.

9. Children's Privacy

WiseCV is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13 years of age.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any updates will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" timestamp. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
